Hi Everyone!

Happy Autumn Everyone! The nip is in the air that puts us in mind of colder days, longer nights and holiday decorating and gift crafting. And, just in time, the FALL CLASS SCHEDULE has arrived chock full of ways to fill those long chilly nights and many great ideas for adorning yourself (and others) for the glistening season ahead. Before I fill you in on the must have reprisals of seasons past and the hot new items to bead, there has been a change in class fees. Some fees have (and must) remain the same, but many class fees have been reduced in an effort to help differ the higher price of, well, everything else we have to have to live, on a daily basis. In this way, I hope that you will be able to say yes to classes you've wanted to take to enhance your skills or, just because it's fun! We all deserve fun in our lives! Beading is a joy. It's a relaxing activity that is proven to reduce stress levels and alleviate depression. (And when are we more stressed than during the holiday months)? So, I do hope this gesture will help make it easier for you to join in on the fun of attending classes, making friends with and enjoying other people like you! People who love to bead! Because of the price decrease, the multi-class discount offered in the past will not be in effect. The lower cost of classes should reflect an equivalent savings.
Now, for what's in store! Beader's Night Out is always the first Thursday of the month. No fee, but reserve your seat early. This time of beading together has become quite popular. There are five new designs using the new SUPER DUO beads! Three in October, two in November and one in December. Odin has been busy with these sweet little beads and will be teaching three of them herself. Starting with a COSMIC BEAD made from duos, bicones and seed beads, that you can string together for necklace, bracelet and earrings, TAVEN WINDOWS BRACELET and the PLAID ROPE! Marie Jacques will has a sweet duo bracelet up her sleeve and I'll show you how to make a super-fast and easy pair of earrings and/or pendant.
Mig, of course is here with old standards, new chainmaille and a redo of the Riveted and patina bracelet, which many expressed interest in and could not make in September. Those who were able to make it had a great time and gained and great new technique for their repertoire. Mig will also be on hand for the standards, Wire Sculpting and Border Wrap and the CELTIC TWIST BRACELET that many have been requesting. And a special treat, Christmas Tree Earrings.
I'll be reprising two (maybe three) favorite holiday ornaments. The Victorian Heirloom Ornament and the Silver Bell have been requested and are back on the calendar.
We had so much fun Channeling our Inner Artist with Marie Spaulding and incorporating beads into the art work that we'll be doing it again! Marie has a new project this time using "SEED BEADS". Oh boy!
Old favorites are on tap, too. So if you haven't gotten in on the fun yet you still have a chance to learn LEATHER WRAPPED BRACELET with Sue Daigle, SILK WRAP AND NETTED ROPE with Odin, BEADED CABOCHONS WITH Robin Stuart, BEADING BASICS with Marie Jacques and I'll have some LAST MINUTE EARRING again this year. I love making earrings. Instant gratification!
Other items of interest to put on your calendar NOW:
We are so privileged to be having TWO TRUNK SHOWS this season!! Keith O'Connor on October 25th with a whole slew of brand new beads! On November 29th, Ren Farnsworth returns with her garden of LAMPWORK FLOWER BEADS! She has some beautiful new items in store as well.
There are also two downtown events that the shop will be involved in. The first on November 6th is the "Light on the Water - Art Walk". From 4-8 p.m.. This shop will be hosting an artist and you are all invited in for the fun and festivity. You'll be able to stroll the street and view other artist and musician in other businesses along Water Street. You'll have to stay tuned to see who will be here. The second event is the downtown TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL on Saturday, November 29, which will coincide with Ren Farnsworth's visit just to add to the festivity that day.
I'm already feeling the excitement in store for the coming months and I'm looking forward to sharing it with all of you! I'm sure I've left something out, but stay tuned and read the emails for more info as we go forward. And you never know when I'll sneak in a special coupon. So keep your eyes open and your bead box nearby!
As always, I'll see you soon and,

Happy Beading,
Linda

This first class of the Fall Schedule introduces working with SUPER DUO beads. And for those of us who LOVE working with beads, what could be more fun than making beads out of other beads! Odin has created the fabulous COSMIC BEAD using the new duos, crystal bicones and seed beads and it's just Out of the World, beautiful. Two variations on this bead give you versatility and texture. NETTED ROPE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4TH , 1-3 P.M., W/ ODIN, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

A number of ladies have been asking for a repeat of this simple and elegant rope. It's a piece that is so versatile and works up beautifully and easily in crystal or pearls or gemstones. This piece appears to trap the stones in a beautiful beaded net to encircle your wrist or you can lengthen it into a fabulous necklace. The color combinations are endless as are the number of places you'll want to wear it. Netted rope is easy. So much easier than it looks. If you've ever handled a needle and thread you'll be able to accomplish this. It's a wonderful first venture into hand weaving with beads with stunning results! There has been demand for a repeat of this class, so register early!

CUBIE DOLL BRACELET: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9TH, 6-8 P.M., W/ LINDA, FEE: $20, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Sometimes the simpler, the better. This super sweet and simply strung bracelet of curved metal tube and crystal cube beads will be a favorite right through the holiday season and beyond. SILVER BELL ORNAMENT: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16TH, 6-8 P.M., W/LINDA, FEE: $20, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

This class is always such a huge hit. It's a sweet and easy design that you will find many uses for this holiday season. This design is an old pattern that customer Karen Wright, had gotten from her mother and passed on to me. I tweaked the original a bit and came up with a sweet, easy little bell to glisten on your tree or window, gift trim or gift all by itself. The photo is deceiving. They're only about three inches high! They're so easy to make you'll have time to make a whole choir of bells to hang, or to give as gifts. Components are available in gold, too. (This will also make a great Bridal Shower favor or decoration).

WIREWORKS: WIRE SCULPTING: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH, W/ MIG LEMIRE, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

I know a lot of you have been waiting for summer to be over to focus on the things YOU'VE been wanting to do. And I've heard from you that working with wire is one of them. Now is the time to learn the beautiful and surprisingly easy art of WIRE SCULPTING. This beautiful style is very free-form and lends itself very well to uneven shapes. For instance, all the beach glass you've harvested all summer long. Don't let it sit in a bag in the closet, let it shine as a gorgeous pendant! Silver, gold and copper wires are available in bulk to keep it affordable. They'll also make much appreciated gifts for family and special friends.

ROOSA CHAIN MAILLE BRACELET AND EARRINGS: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH, W/ MIG LEMIRE, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER CHAINMAILLE.

I showed this bracelet in an email and on Facebook a month ago and got quite a response to it. It is a fun and easy chainmaille set that really gets people's attention. I test drove the sample I made for a while and got stopped and asked, "where did you get that bracelet". Never done chainmaille before? No problem. This is beginner level, easy. Be the first in your group to sport this pretty piece! Register early and let me know your metal preference. Rings are available in quality plated metal or precious metals.

LEATHER WRAP BRACELET: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23RD, W/ SUE DAIGLE, FEE: $35 (includes tutorial), SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

This bracelet was hot when it hit the scene a year or so ago and it hasn't cooled down yet. If anything there are more variations of it than ever. The technique for this particular design was created by Denise Galloway and Maria Loughran. They had both been making leather bracelets for a while, when Maria came up with brilliant idea for a button closure that requires no knots. The bracelet stays flat against the wrist. If you have been admiring these bracelets, now you can make them for you and all your friends. Two styles are included in the tutorial Skill Level: Beginner

TRUNK SHOW WITH KEITH O'CONNER POTTERY!! SATURDAY OCTOBER 25TH, FROM 10:00-3:00.

I'm so happy to have Keith O'Conner back this fall for another great Trunk Show. I've been watching Keith's posts on Facebook all summer long of the fabulous new pottery, Raku and porcelain beads that have been coming out of his kiln. Stunning new designs and colors. While he's here, the beads are offered at special show prices, so don't miss this opportunity to see all of what Keith has to offer. Last year his porcelain ornaments were particularly popular. Supplies are limited, so put the date on your calendar and get here early!! You can also pick up some great tips and ideas on working with these gorgeous works of art! Refreshments will be offered. Mixed clay beads in black and white and colors. Pottery leaves, Raku starfish, ornaments galore! This is just a small sampling of what's in store. Finished pieces as well!

I love working with designs by Deborah Roberti and have taught several here at the shop with her permission. In looking for designs using the lovely Super Duo beads, we felt that this one was a beauty and easy enough for anyone with a basic knowledge of hand weaving (needle and thread work). This will not only give you more experience working with these fun duo beads, but you'll have a gorgeous new bracelet to wear or gift to a special friend this holiday season. Reserve your seat in this class early!

SILK WRAP BRACELET: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST, 10:30-12:30, W/ ODIN, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

This was such a hit this past summer, we just had to offer it again. So if you missed it due to vacation plans or visiting relatives, here's your chance to have fun with this beautiful variation on the wrap bracelet. Usually done with leather cord this one uses size six crystals and silk knotting cord for a softer, lighter look and feel. Delicate knotting finishes the ends. Very comfortable to wear!

TAVERN WINDOWS BRACELET: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST, 1-3 P.M., W/ ODIN, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE (Students should have some experience working with Super Duo beads and be quite comfortable with Peyote stitch!)

Reminiscent of the stained glass windows of yore, Odin has created a beautiful beaded piece to tantalize even the most seasoned beaders among us. This is Peyote Stitch combining Super Duo, Crystal Bicones and Seed beads into an intricate, stunning and unique piece. Kudos Odin! I'm up for the challenge. Who will join me? Book early!! If you loved the Wire Sculpting class with Mig, you'll love Border Wrap. The second in the WIREWORKS series, this class teaches you how to showcase a cabochon or other flat backed stone by incasing the edges in a neatly bound wire wrap. You'll learn to create exquisite sterling, silver filled or gold filled border wrapped slides and pendants. (They look great in copper, too.) Bring your own stones or pick from our beautiful selections. (This is a standalone class. You do not need to have taken Wire Sculpting to accomplish this technique. RIVETED BRACELET WITH PATINA: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH, 1-3 P.M., W/ MIG, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Last quarter we offered the class in riveting focal pieces to a hammered cuff you fashion yourself. We presented it on a weekend that seemed to have a lot of other things going on. There were many of you who expressed interest in the class, but couldn't make it in and asked if we would please offer the class again this quarter. So here it is! We're condensing it a bit and will be able to combine it with the patina how-tos. You will have loads of fun learning to shape a copper blank into a custom bracelet, hammer texture into it, rivet on a focal and add depth and color with patina. And the best part, it's beginner easy!! Don't miss this come again opportunity. You'll be able to hammer out a load of easy, inexpensive gifts with these techniques.

VICTORIAN HEIRLOOM ORNAMENT: TWO-PART CLASS, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH AND TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH , 6-8 P.M., W/ LINDA, FEE: $35 (Both classes), SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Back by special request, this ornament is so beautiful it will take your breath away. This is an heirloom piece that will be handed down for generations, gaining value (sentimental and monetary) with each passing year. In the first class, we'll begin making the netted cover. The second class we'll secure it over the glass ball and systematically add the crystal drops. Done in Czech fire polished crystals, this piece is not as complicated as it looks. It is basic netting with embellishments and ideal for a beader who is new to hand weaving. They are so relaxing and fun to do, as well. Start now and you will have loads of time to create enough to cover your tree or complete your gift list. Making one of these magnificent orbs always gives me an Olde Fashioned Holiday feeling.

Marie has created a beautiful Sunflower, iced with seed beads this time. The weaving beaders will love this project because you get to work with your favorite beads!!
