Sweet
Summer! We deserve a long one. Lots of time to show off our favorite
hand fashioned jewelry pieces against bright and
breezy colors and tanned skin.
Lots of news to share. First, Cyndy and daughter Julie are back
from their long overdue trip to the Emerald Isle. Cyndy is doing
great. She has a busy summer planned getting ready for daughter
Mary Ellen's wedding in August.
I will be taking a few weeks leave to recover from some surgery
on my hip. I am very fortunate that Julie Sexton is available
to look after the shop for us. She already knows the shop, the
stock, the lingo and most important, most of you. So, you'll
be in good hands while I'm recovering. While I'm out, I'll be
working on some new class projects.
The summer class schedule has some old favorites (WireWorks),
the ever popular (Japanese Braiding, Beaded Cabochons), and some
fun new things (more bracelets and rings). Of course there are
plenty of Basics classes for those wanting to immerse themselves
in the beauty of beads or those wanting to brush-up their skills.
And we haven't forgotten the Young Beaders! Check the schedule
for their own special class. Don't forget the three class discount.
Sign up for three or more classes at the same time and receive
20% off all.
New items arrive weekly so be sure to stop in and browse. (And
visit with Julie. She's looking forward to seeing all of you
again, and getting to know the newer folk).
Have a great early summer. I'll see you soon,
Linda

MAKING BEADS WITH POLYMER CLAY
Saturday, August 2, 2008 10:00-12:30
Beads
made from clay can be as simple as one color in various shapes
(round, square, rectangle, bi-cones, etc.), or a complex looking
as lampwork glass beads. While some techniques take time and
practice to learn and perfect, you can make lovely beads in
blended colors in various shapes on your first try. It's so
much fun to roll, mold and pinch the clay into little works
of art that you can then fashion into light weight jewelry
you'll love to wear. Brian will start you off with some simple
blending and shaping techniques. You'll leave this first class
with your very own hand crafted art beads. Watch for future
