Hi Everyone!

Summer has sure taken a long time to finally arrive, but we're glad it's here! I'm glad, too, because not only am I surrounded by the great ladies who tough out the winter with me, but we have the pleasure of welcoming back our Snowbirds for another season.
There are some wonderful new classes in the offing as well as a few old standards. Have you tried Peyote Stitch? If not there are plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in this popular and versatile stitch. Although I usually offer a Basic Peyote Stitch class, I've offered it at least every other quarter for a while now. Many of you already know basics, so you'll be able to slide into the novice and intermediate classes easily. If you've never done Peyote Stitch before and would like to get into one of the offered classes, see me and we can arrange a private or semi-private basic class to get you up to speed!
Our Wire Goddess Mig Lemire will be here with the standard basic beginner wire wrapping classes. Wire Sculpting and Border Wrap will give you a good solid foundation for more advanced wrapping techniques. She'll also be offering chainmaille earrings, working with patinas and something brand new and exciting! Let's just say - You'll be "Riveted"!
Brand new on the roster of classes is new instructor Marie Spaulding who will help you "CHANNEL YOUR INNER ARTIST - WITH BEADS!" You'll be amazed at what you can do with paints and beads!
Bracelets are BIG for summer. It's so much more fun to show them off without long sleeves to get in the way. There are plenty of bracelets this quarter!
Sue Daigle is back with more Kumihimo (because we just can't get enough) and a new bracelet in MICRO MACRAME!
Marie Jacques will get you started beading with BASICS and BASIC EARRINGS. She also has another Russian stitch to offer, the beautiful, flexible and brilliant RUSSIAN SNAKE STITCH, which you can fashion into a necklace or bracelet!
One of our favorite snowbirds Connie Foster is back with RUFFLED PEYOTE BRACELET which was a huge hit last summer and the new VINES AND FLOWERS in embellished peyote stitch.
Odin has two new classes to entice you. The queen of Japanese Weaving has a sweet little CRYSTAL ACORN, which you can fashion into a pendant or earrings. She's also given a new twist to a popular wrap bracelet with the SILK WRAP.
Sue Guilliam is new to the roster of instructors offering a TWO DROP PEYOTE BRACELET using seed and cube beads. Lovely texture.
Also, coming up quickly don't miss out on two very special TRUNK SHOWS. Lampwork Artist Ren Farnsworth in July and Dichroic Glass Artist Rebecca Conry in August. Check it out!!
I've got a few new items in the line-up as well as my favorite ornament for the "CHRISTMAS IN JULY" offering.
So, grab a cuppa', settle in and peruse the class line up. I'm sure you'll find a few items to get started on this summer for the holidays, while out on the porch, overlooking the lake. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Don't forget the multi class discount. Register and place a deposit for three or more classes at one time, and receive 15%off all three.
There are a few TBA slots for later additions. If you have any ideas of what you'd like to see, let me know and we'll see what we can do!
I'm a few steps from the Rail Trail, so stop in after your walk for a cool down and browse the beads! See you all soon and,

Happy Beading,
Linda

Here's a chance to use Rebecca's beautiful dichroic cabs. If you loved the Wire Sculpting class with Mig, you'll love Border Wrap. The second in the WIREWORKS series, this class teaches you how to showcase a cabochon or other flat backed stone by incasing the edges in a neatly bound wire wrap. You'll learn to create exquisite sterling, silver filled or gold filled border wrapped slides and pendants. (They look great in copper, too.) JAPANESE BRAIDING: THURSDAY, AUGUST 14TH, 6-8 P.M., W/ SUE DAIGLE, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

We gave this class a break last quarter and people are clamoring for it again. Don't wait to register. Japanese Braiding or "Kumihimo" is an ancient art form that dates back to around 8000 BC, yet fits into our contemporary society quite well. Meaning a "Gathering of Threads", Kumihimo braids were used as personal adornment such as obi-jime ties, ropes to bind ancient scrolls, and were presented by emperors to heroes and others who earned high honors. Today they lend themselves well to belts, trims, handbag straps and, of course, jewelry. This relaxing form of beaded braiding works up quite quickly and makes beautiful, affordable and very unique gifts. This class always fill quickly so reserve your seat early. Ask for a materials list as a small amount of prep work is necessary prior to the class.

Connie Foster is back with another pretty peyote bracelet. By now, most who are fans of Connie and have taken her previous classes, already know their way around peyote stitch. So, this class comes with a little homework. Pre-buy your seed beads and stitch the base of the piece before you come in for class. Then come in and work the edging and embellishment with Connie's care. It's a little like mixing straight peyote with free form. A fun project. Light and lacy for summer wear.
