Hi Everyone!

Greeting Everyone, Another New Year is upon us. I hope it moves at a little slower pace than the last one. It seems 2015 was gone in a blink! Note to self: *(Take more time this year to lay in the grass and look at the clouds, and knock off a few items on the Bucket List). One of MY bucket list items for this year is to expand my techniques and learn a few stitched I haven't tried before. No matter how much you know or how far you think you've come, you can always stretch a little further.

The schedule has basic techniques for new beaders (or those who wish to brush up). There are also (as usual) new techniques and project to entice and delight. For those who have fun with wire, there's BANGLES WITH BAUBLES - STACKER BRACELETS with Moi, (and Mig will be offering her wonderful array of wire projects), Lori Holt is offering a host of NEW! Check out her CHENILLE SPIRAL BRACELET AND CRYSTAL STAR EARRING in January, and the CHEVRON DUO BRACELET AND "O" BRACELET in February. Marie Jacques will be reprising some of her requested "favorites". Folks have been asking for a repeat of her RUSSIAN SPIRAL, TILA STACKERS BRACELET, ST. PETERSBURG CHAIN BRACELET and the RUSSIAN DRAGONFLY!! There were several who wanted to make that class and couldn't so we decided to do it again. This time it will be a day long class to be able to get it accomplished in one day. Sue Daigle will return with her fun and fabulous LEATHER WRAP BRACELET, SHAMBALA BRACELET and of course JAPANESE BRAIDING. There are a couple of blank spots to fill in with new projects. So if you have a particular project you'd like to see offered, let me know and we'll do what we can.

So, take advantage of the materials discounts and register early for your favorites. You don't want to miss the fun! And what better way to pass the long winter nights the with your favorite pastime. So relaxing and fulfilling. Classes, learning something new with friends, old and new, is also a great pick-me-up for getting through the long, dark winter.

Looking so forward to seeing you all in the coming months. Until then, have a SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON. ,

Happy Beading!

Linda

WIREWORKS: BORDERWRAP: SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 10:30-12:30, W/MIG LEMIRE, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

If you loved the Wire Sculpting class with Mig, you'll love Border Wrap. The second in the WIREWORKS series, this class teaches you how to showcase a cabochon or other flat backed stone by incasing the edges in a neatly bound wire wrap. You'll learn to create exquisite sterling, silver filled or gold filled border wrapped slides and pendants. (They look great in copper, too.) Bring your own stones or pick from our beautiful selections. (This is a standalone class. You do not need to have taken Wire Sculpting to accomplish this technique. This technique will spring board you into many other wire wrapped pieces).

WIREWORKS: PURPLE WAVES BRACELET: SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 1:30-3:30, W/MIG LEMIRE, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

I just love this design. I recently saw a show in Las Vegas called "Le Reve". It was a Cirque de Sole type show with dancing water and lots of color. The wave pattern to this piece immediately put me in mind of that spectacular show. I think I'll do mine with graduated color of Swarovski Crystals to reflect the brilliant colors in the waters in the show. Would also be beautiful in shades of aqua and seafoam. As always, you make it uniquely yours with your choices. We are happy to help!

BANGLES WITH BAUBLES/STACKERS BRACELETS: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 6-8 P.M., W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

You've seen these fun little bracelets everywhere. Some for as much as $45-$50 each or more! Now you can make them yourself! Make bunches for a fraction of the price of ready-made and stack 'em up!! Great little item for those of you who do craft shows.

CHENILLE SPIRAL BRACELET: SATURDAY JANUARY 16, 10:30 A.M., W/ LORI HOLT, FEE: $35, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER with needle and thread experience

This is a fun little bracelet. This one in festive colors makes me think of summer. But, can you just imagine is in a myraid of color combinations? You can have so much fun trying out different combos. A great way to use some of your extra beads from other projects.

Sometimes we love a challenge. But, sometimes fast, fun and easy is what we like! These sweet little earrings work up quickly and are the perfect complement to any spring outfit!! And now that we are in the dark of winter, we're happy to take a little spring where ever we can get it. Come enjoy an easy session around the beading table and create some beautiful bead work.

RUSSIAN SPIRAL: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, 6:00 P.M., W/ MARIE JACQUES, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: Novice, (Some hand weaving experience recommended)

Beaded spirals are some of the prettiest beaded projects around. They are easy and elegant for necklaces, bracelets, bag straps and can be worked up in an endless variety of colors and patterns. The Russian Spiral can be worked in any variation of beads but this one done in seed and bugle beads has such an interesting helix effect. It's soft and supple and feels wonderful in your hands and against your skin. It's a simple technique and works up quickly. Come see for yourself how a woven tube of beads can be.

SHAMBALA BRACELET, SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, NOON, W/SUE DAIGLE, FEE: $25 SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

This has been one hot bracelet!! Macramé has made a comeback, but with a flashy modern twist!! Love bling? Combine glittery Pave beads, silk braided cord and macramé knots for a wonderful little bracelet that is as fun to wear as to make. Also works well with more organic components. This will definitely fill fast, so don't wait to reserve your seat!

I love working with designs by Deborah Roberti and have taught several here at the shop with her permission. In looking for designs using the lovely Super Duo beads, we felt that this one was a beauty and easy enough for anyone with a basic knowledge of hand weaving (needle and thread work). This will not only give you more experience working with these fun duo beads, but you'll have a gorgeous new bracelet to wear or gift to a special friend this holiday season. Creative Marie has fashioned this beauty using the Russian Leaves technique. You make the individual components and join together into a pretty piece. This will give you a new dimension to your peyote skill as you learn to "shape" with beads! Stretch your imagination along with your skills. And It's always fun to learn something new! This class will be a full day long with a half hour break for lunch. Bring your own or we'll order off a local menu for delivery

YOU ASKED FOR IT! SIMPLY STUNNING SUPER DUO EARRINGS: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 6:00 P.M., W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE (Some hand weaving experience recommended)

This class, previously offered, was such a big hit. Several who couldn't make it have requested a repeat and several who saw it in the shop also made a request. This is a good intro to using Duo beads. And these earrings are gorgeous! And they are so, very easy to make with just a little hand weaving experience. Using Super Duos, seed beads, bicone crystals and Rivolis, these work up super quick! I completed both earring in under an hour! I've worked patterns that rendered similar results that took three times longer or more. And, well, they're stunning! Join me for a fun evening of creating "SUPER" easy jewelry!

WIREWORKS: PRONGS: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 10:30-12:30 P.M., W/MIG LEMIRE, FEE: $55, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE (Pre-requisite, Wire Sculpting or Border Wrap or other wire experience)

Learn another great wire wrapping technique from Mig! For this project you will learn how to create a "pronged" setting for a faceted stone. This is a piece that always gets compliments and people are floored when you say "I made it myself". It's a piece that looks as though it came from a jewelers. The technique can be done with any size or shape of faceted stone but Mig suggests a rectangular stone for your first project. A selection of CZs and Swarovski stones ideal for this project are in stock and quite affordable. Learn this technique and people will think you got it at a jewelers!

PETERSBURG CHAIN and have an extraordinary bracelet when you are done. This is a fun stitch and not difficult once you get into the rhythm of the progression. And you can do it any way you like. Earthy and organic or Bling it on!

CHEVRON BRACELET WITH SUPER DUOS: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 10:30 A.M., W/LORI HOLT, FEE: $35, SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE (Some hand weaving experience recommended)

It took me a while to warm to Super Duo beads, but, let me tell you, What I've seen and experienced working with these little gems, I can't get enough of them. The projects work up faster and cleaner. They contribute to beautiful finished pieces. And they are just so much fun to work with. This little bracelet by Lori is a wonderful example of the fun you can have with duos and seed beads creating a striking "chevron" pattern! Love it! You will, too. Don't wait to register!

"O" WHAT A BRACELET!: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 1:00 P.M., W/LORI HOLT, FEE: $35, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Another of Lori's fabulous bracelets, this one done with fun little "O" beads, attached and embellished with seed beads on a seed bead base. Another that will be so much fun to choose colors for. I'm thinking it would look great expanded into a necklace. Mmmmmmmmm. Keep it one color or mix 'em up. A super look for spring and summer fashions! Another that will fill fast, so call quickly.

BASIC EVEN COUNT PEYOTE STITCH BOOKMARK OR BRACELET: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 6:00 P.M., W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

If you only learn one Hand Weaving stitch, Peyote stitch is the one to learn. A popular form of hand weaving that produces a brick work pattern, it is used to create bracelets, necklaces, encase cabochons, and in the more advanced forms, beaded boxes and sculptures. Thumbing through beading magazines and books you will generally see one or more projects that incorporate peyote stitch. In this class we will create a Flat Even Count Peyote band which may be finished as either a bracelet or bookmark. These will work up easily, once you know how, and make great gifts. This class is a pre-requisite for Free-Form and other more advanced peyote stitches.

LEATHER WRAP BRACELET: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, NOON, W/SUE DAIGLE, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Leather wrap bracelets have been quite "THE THING" for several years now. There are a number of different variations on this theme. One of our favorites is this triple width version. The technique for this particular design was created by Denise Galloway and Marie Loughran. This "no knot" version of attaching the button closure, keeps the bracelet flat against the wrist. You'll love making them (and your friends will love you for it, too). Don't miss this one. Leather wraps are great anytime, but summer is coming and the best time to show them off! Notice: Crystals or stones, beautiful either way.

BEADER'S NIGHT OUT: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 6:00 P.M., NO FEE

No class, just a time to gather together around the beading table and explore our favorite beading project. Seating is limited so call to reserve your seat.

BEADING BASICS: SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 10:30 A.M., W/MARIE JACQUES, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

This class is a must for the beginning bead enthusiast or for anyone interested in brushing up their beading skills. These techniques will spring you forth into the world of beading with the confidence it takes to create your own designs! Focus will be on single strand necklace or bracelet.

TRADITIONAL PEARL KNOTTING: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9, 6:00 P.M., W/ LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

The ability to knot neatly between beads is a great tool to have in your beading repertoire. Pearls are usually knotted on silk cord. As with any natural fiber, it only last so long. If fact, it is recommended that you have your natural pearl jewelry re-strung and knotted every few years. Traditional pearl knotting can be quite expensive with re-strings costing as much as $2.00 per bead and in some cases, more. Knotting can also be used for other beaded necklaces and bracelets, too. Have fun with colored cords and beads making fun and funky looks to match your materials and moods. Come for a relaxing evening with silk cords and beads. Call today!

CUBES ON A LOOM: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, W/LINDA, FEE: $22.50, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER.

This class was so popular and the gals had so much fun with it, I just had to do it again. Never worked a bead loom before? This is a fast and easy introduction! Looming is fun and relaxing. Make a lovely cuff with cube beads for wonderful gifts (or something for yourself) in no time! I'm wearing this one today!! You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn easy looming. Once you master this (in NO time), you'll want to expand your technique. Maybe we can coax "The Loom Lady" Johanna Bierwirth down from Alton in the spring to take you a step further with smaller beads and patterns. It's loads of fun!!

JAPANESE BRAIDING (KUMIHIMO), SATURDAY, MARCH 19, NOON, W/SUE DAIGLE, FEE: $25, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Japanese Braiding or "Kumihimo" is an ancient art form that dates back to around 8000 BC, yet fits into our contemporary society quite well. Meaning a "Gathering of Threads", Kumihimo braids were used as personal adornment such as obi-jime ties, ropes to bind ancient scrolls, and were presented by emperors to heroes and others who earned high honors. Today they lend themselves well to belts, trims, handbag straps and, of course, jewelry. This relaxing form of beaded braiding works up quite quickly and makes beautiful, affordable and very unique gifts. This class always fill quickly so reserve your seat early. Ask for a materials list as a small amount of prep work is necessary prior to the class.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23 TBA

TO BE ANNOUNCED

ZULU CIRCULAR BEAD EMBROIDERY, SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 11:00 A.M - 2:30 P.M., W/ LINDA, FEE: $35, SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

I had a blast last summer learning and playing with this technique with friend Deb Wear-Finkle at her camp in The Forks! This piece, which looks so complicated, is really a fun, easy project which uses small amounts of many kinds of beads. This means it's a great stash buster. You can use up those extra little piles of beads from other projects. It is a most relaxing technique, too. Picture it! A screened in porch, overlooking a lovely lake, a tall cool glass of lemonade, and you, surrounded by lots of little piles of your favorite beads in your favorite color pallet. Heaven! This is a relaxing all day class. We'll take a half hour break. You can bring your own lunch or snack or we'll choose a local eatery and order take-out.
